I headed down with Cody early in the morning and made it there just after the sun was out.  We jig fished and it was a little bumpy 3 footers in the pass.  His buddy Doug landed one a tarpon on Jigs I had one on and it swam into kyles jig and as it was coming up it pulled the hook out of his mouth.  Doug had the hot hand and hooked another one it ended up tossing the hook.  We dropped Kyle, His girlfriend and Doug off at the beach and met up with Sam from saltyshores.com at Gasparilla Marina for lunch and checked out this pictures he got with the boat he was fishing with in the morning..  We picked up some pass crabs from the marina and they were $ 33 for a dozen  we need them for permit.(The crabs weren't flowing)  We checked a couple traps that Cody was getting some nice tripletail on and I was able to catch a nice one..  Photobucket We had a nasty afternoon storm with lightning creeping up on us and got some appetizers at Millers Marina.  Seen David Brown a writer that does story's for FLW and Florida Sportman and Salt Water Angler and he was out with the Guys that have the Reel Animals Tv show and they just got in and they said they got on the permit good..  So we ran out to the reef and I ended up losing one under the boat after a 5-10 minute fight the hooks pulled I was bummed.  We ended up with a few nice mangrove snapper and headed in because another storm was approaching quickly.. Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket We Grabbed some food and grabbed a hotel and got up super early in the morning.   We jig fished first thing in the morning and Cody ended up getting on about 60-70 lbs.  The fish kept going in shallow so the jig fishing wasn't all that great.  It's pretty intense jig fishing because you are rod tip to rod tip with the boat next to you with people hooking around you and jumping fish around..  After the bite Pettered we ran on the beach and caught some threadfins pinners and blue runners.  We fished a school of fish that  Cody's buddy Cory and Boby Mcguire we fishing and couldn't  them to chew and we fished them right for over an hour right in them.. Photobucket Photobucket We Ran in and got More threadfins and the wind died and we came up inside the pass where their was other boats and we seen the prettiest site of close to 10,000 tarpon on the surface rolling and happy as can be facing in the tide.  We drifted threadfins back in to them and used our trolling motor to keep us from drifting back into them.  It was unbelivable! Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Couple doubleheaders and smoked a reel had to splice the braided to mono to landed this 160 lb fish.  It started to get nasty again so we ran and got the boat on the trailer just in time!  I will be back soon and If you know anyone that want's to fish there let me know I will get you set up right with the best!
