Skin Deeps Day 1 fish of 54.78lbs was enough to win this years Key West Harbor King Mackerel Tournament. In year past this division 10 tournament is one that hials multiple 50+ and sometimes even 60lb smokers. Many would say this weekends conditions were by far some of the nicest fishing contitions in years. That being said were left wondering was the bite just slow or was it the decrease in this years participating teams that resulted in only two 50+ pound kings being scaled. Any 50 pound king in a tournamnet is respectable, but for those who have fished this division 10 event know these waters are home to some of the biggest king mackel around.
This event historically draws well over 100 teams, but when the announcemnt that this years 1st place prize money was cut in half from a 21 Contender boat motor and trailer package to only $10,000 allot of teams decided to keep thier boats on the trailers.
Top 10 Teams Overall
1. Skin Deep – 54.78
2. Constant Chaos – 54.64
3. Bar South – 49.09
4. Miller Tyme – 47.40
5. Lightly – 46.89
6. Native Premonitions – 45.77
7. Getcha Some – 45.53

Take precautions when trialering your boat. Trailering can add new dimensions and a sense of freedom to boating that is why it’s so popular. If done safely trailering your boat gives one the freedom to boat just about anywhere. Trailering is one of the best ways to explore different waterways in your state or region. It is also the most affordable way to store a boat.
If you have never trailered a boat, there are several things you MUST consider. First is the towing capacity of your car, truck or SUV. This information can easily be found in your vehicle's owner's manual or online. Most standard pick-up trucks and SUVs can trailer boats up to 25 feet comfortably, but you should refer to your vehicles owner manual to be certain.
NEVER tow your boat trailer without checking the following:
• Coupler, hitch and hitch ball are of the same size
• Coupler and safety chains are safely secured to hitch of tow vehicle
• All fasteners are properly tightened
• Boat is securely strapped down to trailer (winch line is not a tie down)
• Wheel lug nuts are properly tightened
• Wheel bearings are properly adjusted and greased
• Load is within maximum load carrying capacity
• Tires are properly inflated and in good condition (no cracks)
• All trailer lighting is working properly
• Trailer brakes are properly adjusted and in working order (if applicable)
• Check local and state requirements regarding brakes and any additional equipment that may be required to safely trailer your boat

Team Casa Vieja Tops Event; A-Fin-Ity Holds on to win Costa Del Mar Grand Champion Team With Angler Davis Clapp Winning the Eagle Claw Grand Champion Angler Honors.
The final leg of the 2009 Presidential Challenge Conservation Series officially wrapped up in Guatemala Nov. 19-22, 2009; the last tournament of the season proved to be one of the most exciting in PCCA history.
After an exceptional kickoff party sponsored by La Reunion and INGUAT, the country's national tourism agency, the Presidential Challenge of Guatemala Presented by INGUAT kicked off to typically warm and seasonal Guatemalan conditions. The fleet spread out in search of productive fishing grounds well beyond VHF radio range, so it wasn't until the boats returned to the dock were the Day One results determined. The tournament staff was pleasantly surprised with the results, which included 44 sailfish and two blue marlin.
Team Decisive took off at 8:52 a.m. when Craig Johnson released a sailfish aboard Capt. Brad Phillips' Decisive; a short while later, Dell Dembosky pulled a blue marlin out of the hat and the team never looked back. Team captain Mike Viveiros is fresh off a second place finish in the IGFA Offshore Championship representing the 2008 PCCA of Guatemala.
Team Ol Salt, fishing on the Finest Kind with Capt. Ron Hamlin, added a blue marlin for angler Sammy Castellano to the team score to put them into second. The Casa Vieja team had a steady day, releasing 10 sails to move them into third place.
Day Two of the Presidential Challenge of Guatemala Presented by INGUAT began at 8:30am. It was another day of radio silence as the fleet returned to the area where the fish were yesterday, some 50 miles offshore.
By the end of the day, Team Decisive had maintained the lead by adding 14 more sailfish to their score. Davis Clapp and Team A-Fin-Ity made their move also accumulating 14 releases but it was not enough to get them into the top three. Jim Turner led his Casa Vieja team fishing aboard the Rum Line up into second place by releasing a nice blue marlin. Ol Salt kept in the top three with anglers adding four sails to their total.
Jim Turner's blue marlin put him at the top of the angler leader board on time over Dell Dembosky. Dell's teammate, Craig Johnson, held a firm grip on third place angler.
But the final day of the PCCA Guatemala always has surprises-no doubt it will be a challenging day for all anglers, especially with the appearance of marlin in the area.
The PCCA Guatemala is famous for exciting finishes. This year was no exception. The bite started off early and teams called in several doubles and triples. At 1:30 p.m, Team Casa Vieja pulled ahead of Decisive for the lead. When the dust settled and scorecards collected, Team Casa Vieja had pulled off the victory. Ol Salt, fishing on Finest Kind, had a great day and held on to third place in the Costa Del Mar Team Division.
The winner of the Baptist Health International Angler Division was Jim Turner, fishing for Team Casa Vieja. His blue marlin on Day One put him on his way to the win. In a hard-fought battle, Dell Dembosky finished in second place fishing for Team Decisive. The Third Place angler position went down to the wire. In the end, Dell's teammate Craig Johnson slid into the third place angler slot.
For the third year in a row Team A-Fin-Ity won the coveted COSTA DEL MAR GRAND CHAMPION TEAM by the narrowest of margins over Team USA, as only one fish separated these two very competitive teams. Ol Salt fished all of the PCCA events to take third place overall. Again, it was a narrow one fish victory over team Decisive/OBX.
The EAGLE CLAW GRAND CHAMPION ANGLER for 2009 is Davis Clapp. Mike Viveiros was the second place champion, while Dan Pimental squeeked into third place with a scant 50 point victory over Mike Topp.
On behalf of the staff from all four PCCA 2009 events the tournament organizers would like to thank everyone for their support this year. The PCCA series events have raised thousands of dollars for conservation through angler and sponsor participation, even in a difficult economy. The Billfish Foundation is forging ahead in their efforts to unify billfish management in Central America-the tournament strongly urges all participants to become members and support these conservation measures around the world. On behalf of the PCCA Guatemala participants, the series will donate $5,000 to support TBF's vital conservation measures in Guatemala and throughout Central America.

Pair earns third tournament win of season, second of year at Orange Beach
LIZELLA, Ga. (November 10, 2009) – Bruce Lindheim of Pensacola, Fla., and Fred Myers of Panama City, Fla., won their second IFA Redfish Tour tournament in as many months, weighing in a four-redfish limit totaling 25.41 pounds to win the two-day 2009 IFA Redfish Tour Championship on November 7 at Orange Beach, Ala. The team’s championship finish marked their third tournament win of the year, following wins at Lafitte (La.) in April and another at Orange Beach in October.
In their first year as tournament partners on the IFA Redfish Tour, the pair’s third win of the season saw the team motor more than 550 miles over two days in search of winning fish. After fishing Louisiana waters on Day One and bringing 12.14 pounds to the scales, the pair sat in eighth place – nearly a pound back from first-day leaders Mike Tindal and Artie Price. On the second and final day of the tournament, Lindheim and Myers ran east, making a 130-mile trip to Panama City, Fla., where they landed their 7.28-pound kicker redfish on the final day, earning them the Rapala Big Fish Award and securing the team’s first championship title.
“We probably spent about $400 each day on fuel, but it paid off,” Myers said. “The winds were up and the water was muddy, so we spent most of our time blind-casting Berkley Gulp! baits. There were times when we were a little worried about our decision to run so far but it turned out to be worth it.”
With the win, the pair won a Ranger 173 Ghost powered by a 115HP, 4-stroke Yamaha outboard; equipped with a Power Pole shallow water anchor, Minn Kota trolling motor, Humminbird electronics and Blue Point Fabrication metal work with an estimated retail value of $34,995.
The second-place team of Jay Cedotal, of Geismar, La., and Chad Dufrene, of Purvis, Miss., brought 24.83 pounds of redfish to the scales over two days, battling 30-knot winds as they crossed Mobile Bay in search of redfish located during their extensive pre-tournament scouting. Though the team finished a little more than one-half pound out of first place, the championship proved very lucrative for Cedotal and Dufrene. With their second-place finish, worth $7,000, the pair most of the contingency prizes, winning both the “Ultra 6” prize, worth $5,000, for being the highest-finishing team to fish six or more regular-season events in 2009; the $5,000 Cabela’s Team of the Year Award for being the highest-finishing, division-winning team; Humminbird and Minn Kota contingencies worth a combined $2,250; as well as the TWT Big Fish, TWT third-place Big Fish and TWT aggregate prizes. In all, Cedotal and Dufrene claimed $20,000 in prize money from the championship tournament.
“This year was a lot harder than last year and during every event we just had to keep winning the Team of the Year in mind,” Dufrene said. “At every event we had a big fish that might have won the tournament for us, but if we tried it and it didn’t measure (within the slot), it would have put us out of contention for Team of the Year, so we had to throw it back. We just couldn’t afford to take those kinds of chances with all of the prizes on the line.”
Third-place finishers Geoff Page, of Venice, Fla., and Rick Murphy, of Homestead, Fla., brought 24.18 pounds to the championship scales over two days, the results of westerly runs in Mississippi waters. Though the fishing was difficult – the pair reported catching three fish on Day One and four fish on Day Two – they stuck with Rapala Trigger X baits on an 1/8-ounce jig and Rapala Skitterwalks while sight fishing en route to a $5,000 third-place prize.
“We didn’t catch a lot of fish, but they were the right fish,” said Page. “I think the water was a little cold and the synthetic plastic baits like the Trigger X are just the way to go. We were sight fishing and our plan was to get 12 pounds each day. Then we got the 7.20-pound fish (third-largest fish of the tournament) and that was just a bonus for us.”
The team of Tom and Karrie Shockley, who weighed in the second-largest redfish of the championship (7.26 pounds), took home the $100 SolarBat Prize in addition to their $2,000 fifth-place prize.
The IFA Redfish Tour continues to draw redfish anglers from Texas to the Carolinas and beyond, offering two-angler teams the opportunity to compete in six different divisions, each offering a three-event regular season. With low entry fees for the one-day, regular-season tournaments allow anglers to fish close to home and minimize expenses, while still being a part of a premier inshore, catch-and-release redfish tournament organization. Teams fishing any three of the IFA’s 18 regular-season events are automatically qualified for a no-entry-fee championship event, pitting qualifiers from each of the six divisions for a combined $77,000 in payouts and prize packages, as well as a shot at the coveted Cabela’s Overall Divisional Team of the Year Award for the six regular-season division winners.
Added this year as an incentive for active anglers capitalizing on the opportunities to fish close to home for big money and valuable prizes, teams that fished at least six tournaments in any combination of divisions were automatically eligible to compete for the IFA Redfish Tour “Ultra 6” award. The award consisted of a $5,000 cash prize, presented to the highest-finishing eligible team at the IFA Redfish Tour championship tournament.
Beginning with the start of the 2010 regular season, the IFA Redfish Tour, the national leader in lucrative and high-level inshore tournaments across the southeastern United States, will bring inshore tournament fishing to even more anglers – allowing them to fish close to home, minimize expenses and cash in on big purses. Through a partnership with Hobie Cat Company, the makers of the industry’s most sought-after fishing kayaks, the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing will be contested every Sunday following an IFA Redfish Tour event. The multispecies tournament will include payouts in four Divisions plus a Junior Angler award. The winner of the Aggregate/Slam Division will take home a Hobie Mirage Pro-Angler valued at $2399, with the next seven places awarded cash (based on a 100 boat field). The Redfish, Trout and Flounder Division winners will each win a Hobie Fishing kayak, valued at $1,049 or greater, with second and third place finishers winning cash.
For more information on the IFA Redfish Tour, the IFA Kayak Fishing Tour Presented by Hobie Fishing, to become a member of the IFA or to become a part of the fastest-growing inshore fishing tournament series in the United States, go online to redfishtour.com.
The 2009 IFA Redfish Tour Championship was possible through the sponsorship and continued support of the fishing industry’s most respected brands: Ranger Boats, Hobie Fishing, Cabela's, Yamaha Outboards, Rapala, Trigger X, Sufix, Minn Kota, Humminbird, Power-Pole, Wrap This, CW Crab, Charter Lakes Marine Insurance, Solar Bat, Gemini Custom Apparel, Navionics, Bob's Machine Shop, Blue Point Fabrication, Terminator, VMC Hooks, Loadmaster Trailers, Powertex Group, Audubon Aquarium of the Americas and The Wharf Resort, Alabama Gulf Coast Sports Commission and Alabama Gulf Coast Convention & Visitors Bureau.

DECISIVE HOLDS ON TO LEAD AT END OF DAY TWO and Wins!
Marina Pez Vela, Guatemala — This was truly a day in the dark for the radio team. Only one transmission was heard first thing in the morning. Not until the boats returned to the dock at the end of the day did we have the results. We were pleasantly surprised with the result which included 44 sailfish and 2 blue marlin. Team Decisive, fishing on the Decisive took off at 8:52 am when Craig Johnson released a sailfish. Dell Dembosky pulled a blue marlin out of the hat at 9:31 am and the team never looked back. Team Captain Mike Viveiros is fresh off a second place finish in the IGFA Offshore Championship representing the 2008 PCCA of Guatemala. Team Ol Salt fishing on the Finest Kind with Capt. Ron Hamlin and angler Sammy Castellano also added a blue marlin to the team score to put them into second. The Casa Vieja team had a steady catch releasing 10 sails to move them into third place.

This is the final event in the PCCA Conservation Series and a lot is at stake. Teams and anglers are in competition for THE COSTA DEL MAR GRAND CHAMPION TEAM AWARD and THE EAGLE CLAW GRAND CHAMPION ANGLER AWARD which will be given out on Sunday.
NOON FRIDAY FISH REPORT
Where did they go?...is the question being asked by our PCCA fleet this morning! Joan Vernon, official scorekeeper, reports that Craig Johnson fishing for Team Decisive aboard the 'Decisive' released a fish at 9:47am. Only one other fish has been radioed in so far today. Knowing that the fish were far offshore, we are hoping that radio transmission is just bad and that many fish will show up at the end of the day. Certified Observers are aboard each boat and have the responsibility of keeping GPS times on all releases. We will keep you posted.........
