The spring leg of the American Striper Associations tournament series kicked off in Cape May New Jersey on Saturday May 9th. Several straight days of stormy weather slowed down the bite allowing only four tournament boats the ability to weigh fish. Captain Koby Treadwell of team Just Released racked up his 1st ASA tournament win with a 29.40 pound striper. Koby also received a one pound bonus for a successful live release giving him a 30.40 tournament total and a $3100 payout. Captain Matt Unsworth of team Mod Squad placed second with a total 24.60 which included a one pound live release bonus. Matt earned $1508. Third place went to Cape May resident Captain Daniel Avena of team Gold Rush. Fourth place went to Captain Dave Nova of team Marlin Maniac.
